Dear Colleagues

Thank you for visiting the web site of Neurological Surgeons, Society of India. I am fast approaching the end of my last year as your Treasurer. I have been able to institute what I believe are many positive changes in our society. I hope that you have noticed the tremendous improvement in the academic activities of the society. Many of the behind-the-scenes changes will not be as noticeable such as increased membership, distributions of various types of fellowship and the implementation of many resolutions. We have been able to do this by continued support and interest in the activities of the society.

We do not rest on our laurels or take anything for granted as regards improvement and developments in our scientific field. And thus have adopted a variety of initiatives that seek to stabilize and enhance NSSI’s performance.

Our efforts to upgrade and develop our site are continual so as to serve the esteemed member, in the highest traditions of a leading Institution of learning and development. You are always welcome to contact me directly if I can be of any service to you. If you would like for me to come and speak to your group, I would be happy to do so.

In all of these actions our overarching goal is to earn your trust and support every day. In the weeks ahead, we look forward to sharing with you news about the progress we continue to make at NSSI in protecting the interest of our members.

Thank you for your continued support

We welcome your feedback.

Dear Colleagues

It is a matter of great pleasure for me to has taken over as the fourth president of the Neurological Surgeons’ Society of India. When I look at the last ten years it has been a great achievement for us -from a very small number we have grown to large family – and I firmly believe that we shall continue to grow larger and help the needy patients. I take this opportunity not only to thank one and all, but also to bring forward few of my priorities – which are strengthening our already existing medical education programme, getting our journal indexed with Pub Med and making our society financially independent. The educational programs which was introduced by society the for trainees with an aim to improve their clinical as well as communication skills so that these people can help the patients in a better way, has been very well received by the targeted population. It shall be my endeavour to take this society to a greater height with the support of all members and with the able guidance of founder committee and past presidents. In addition I would request all members to send their research articles in greater numbers for publication to our journal – Indian Journal of Neurosurgery so that we can get it indexed with Pub Med at the earliest. My yet another priority will be to make society financially independent for this I will request all members to prevail on their colleagues and students to join us as members and help us in getting sponsorship for our journal. I am sure that all members will continue to support me with greater endeavour than theyhave done in past. I extend my greetings and best wishes to all members seek their support.

With warm personal regards,

From the Desk of Secretary Neurological Surgeon Society of India (NSSI) was registered in the February, 2011 with the kind encouragement of eminent academic Neurosurgeons & their generous support, from all over the country. The founding members conceived, formulated and chalked out a plan to evolve a dedicated surgical forum which can represent the neurosurgeons of the country. This society is emerging as a sole forum of academic neurosurgeons of country by your support, seeing the growth of life members in NSSI in a short span of time. Currently we have 350 members in our society. The founder members of NSSI met on 26.03.2011 at Jaipur to discuss the various issues related to the academic, its activities, first conference, membership of society and publication related issues. The committee resolved to start a scientific journal of the society and named it as “Indian Journal of Neurosurgery” (IJN).. We all realize in our routine practice that the data cited in western literature do no match with our patients’ profile in several ways and this creates problem while dealing and interpreting with complex neurosurgical conditions that are common in India. It was also felt appropriate to build our own data base of neurosurgical issues, ways to deal, skills to cater them. Simultaneously, our academic standards of teaching and training offered to our trainees at various institutes and colleges in the country is also inhomogeneous. Keeping all the above factors in mind NSSI started IJN with the help of Dr Sarat Chandra, who also is our first editor. We are aiming to publish two issues per year to begin with and gradually increase the frequency of issues & circulation according to the need and demand, in days to come. We could publish and circulate our first issue successfully, an e-submission of manuscript is readily available today. You will see IJN in pub med within few months. I, therefore, request you all to submit your quality of scientific work in great numbers for publication in Indian Journal of Neurosurgery (IJN).

The web site of society is our effort to put us together and share the possible information by few clicks. I hope that all of you will not only benefit but also contribute to make our neurosurgical community a force to reckon with time to come.

Dear Colleagues

I extend my heartiest thanks to all of you for visiting the web site of Neurological Surgeons’ Society of India and also for offering your valuable suggestions from time to time. The first year of my tenure as your treasurer is now coming on the heels of its end. I have made the best of my endeavors to introduce and to effect a host of positive changes in our society and left no stone unturned to give a fillip to the academic activities on a substantial scale.

Apart from it, other activities such as increasing membership, grant of
fellowship and implementation of resolution have been noticeable and have contributed immensely to the society’s image. Laurels do not allow any rest to us nor do we take anything for granted as regard to improvement and development in our scientific field.

Thus we have adopted a variety of initiatives that seek to further enhance the performance of NSSI. I take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to all of you for consistent support throughout the year and would like to assure you that NSSI will venture into several new trajectories of growth and performance in the year ahead.

Thanks and regards,

Message from President, NSSI It is indeed a great pleasure for me to write few lines I am grateful to all members of NSSI to have confidence on me as the President. Ours is a new society with aim to propagate and promote neurosurgery. We have large number of societies and subspecialty, however, a country of 1.3 billion did not have a Neurosurgical Society. This leads to a feeling in 2005-06 and again 2008-2009 to have NSSI. However, every endeavor take time and so also formation of NSSI. The society was registered initially at Jaipur, however, in Jun 2012, it was registered at Delhi as a multi state society. Currently we have over 350 members and we had first conference at Pune, in Mar 2012, second annual conference at Jaipur, in Mar 2013. I am sure all of you agree with me that both the conferences were highly successful. Considering NSSI is a young society, we have also published 3 issues of our society Journal, Indian Journal of Neurosurgery. Everyone must join me in thanking Dr, Sarat Chandra of AIIMS, New Delhi, for successful lunching and Our third annual conference will be held at AIIMS, Rishikesh and Prof. Raj Kumar, Director, AIIMS, Rishikesh will organize. Rishikesh being the Dev Bhumi of India, is heaven in the earth and large number of Ashrams and spiritual centers and located at Rishikesh. I hope all of you will join the meeting at Rishikesh, make it a great success. At the end I must request you to encourage your residential young faculty to join NSSI and contribute profusely so that we can be one of the best performing society.
